Volozhin. Church of St. Joseph.

Volozhyn is an ancient town and the first wooden church was built here by Slushki in the 17th century in the Baroque style. Together with the church, the Bernardine Catholic monastery is being built. The buildings were destroyed by fire in 1815. Already in 1816, Count Tyshkevich built a new church in the style of classicism, which was named in honor of St. Joseph. After the suppression of the anti-Russian uprising of Kastus Kalinowski in 1864, the church was rebuilt as an Orthodox church. The temple itself is a monumental brick rectangular building with a gable roof. The main facade is oriented to the former shopping area, now Svoboda Square. On the main facade there is a portico of the Doric order with six columns, which are mounted on cubic plinths. A triangular pediment completes the main facade. There are also four niches, which are finished with conches, where the sculptures of the evangelists used to be. Representatives of the Tyshkevich family were buried in the crypt of the church. A brick bell tower was built near the church.
