A historic Catholic church, an architectural monument in the style of late classicism with eclectic elements.
The church is made in the style of late classicism, which gives it a majestic and solemn appearance. This rectangular structure is distinguished by two tall towers and an apse, a unique circular projection on the eastern side of the temple. His appearance makes a special impression, imbued with the spirit of the Belarusian classical style.
Inside the temple, you can see the famous images of "St. Casimir" and "The Nativity of Christ". The interior of the church is rich and diverse: the altar is decorated with stucco, wooden figurines and art paintings. Arriving at the altar, it is impossible not to notice the impressive white columns that are located in the center of the hall. The central altar of the church with the icon of the Ascension is decorated with wooden sculptures of Saints Peter and Paul of the 19th century.
In the 1930s, when Volkovysk was part of the interwar Polish Republic, two towers were built on the sides of the pediment.
The Church of St. Wenceslaus has remained the most important center of the spiritual life of the region for many years.
During the Second World War, the Volkovysk church was severely destroyed, but the locals restored it on their own, after which the temple was not closed. During the Soviet years, services in the church did not stop.
The territory of the temple is surrounded by a rubble stone fence and a metal lattice and gate, which are a preserved element of the three-storey belfry tower that once stood here. There is a small chapel on the territory of the temple.
The Church of St. Wenceslaus continues to serve as a place of worship and spiritual communion for Catholics of Volkovysk and the surrounding area. It also attracts tourists and pilgrims interested in history and architecture.
The Church of St. Wenceslaus is not only a religious, but also a cultural symbol of Volkovysk, reflecting the rich history and traditions of the region. A visit to this unusual temple and inspiring architectural monument will remain in your memory for many years.
