Volkovichi. The grave of Josefina Chapskaya.

The grave of Countess Jozefina Chapskaya has been preserved in the town of Volkovichi, Minsk region. If you go on vacation to the Volkovichi reservoir, or to the cafe "Ptich", which is very popular with Minsk residents, then pay attention to the hill towering behind the cafe. This is an ancient local cemetery. And a large black granite cross is very clearly visible from the R–1 highway in this cemetery. This is the grave of Countess Josefina Chapskaya.

Volkovichi was first mentioned in the 16th century during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, as a noble property. The owners of the village in those days were the Volkovs, and then the Volko-Pchitskys. In the 18th century, the place was part of the folwark Gorodische in the Minsk voivodeship.

During the Russian Empire, in 1904, a large and tall Catholic stone church was built on a high hill on the banks of the Ptich River, which was built with the money of Jerzy Chapsky. The church was consecrated in honor of the Heart of Jesus. The church was very similar in architecture to the Simon and Elena Church in Minsk on Independence Square. The temple was damaged during the war and was finally demolished in the 1950s.

In 1903, Jozefina Chapskaya, who was the owner of the estate in Priluki, was buried near the church. The gravestone on the grave of the Countess in 1904 was made by the famous architect and engineer Heinrich Guy (1875-1936). A sculpture, a Catholic cross with a bronze crucifix and a wrought-iron wreath were created on the monument. The bronze details and sculpture have not been preserved to our time.

The black granite monument bears the inscription "Give us eternal rest, sir," and the name of Pruszynski's Warsaw workshop.
