A very beautiful church, a monument of late Baroque architecture.
The future King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Stanisław August Poniatowski was baptized in this church. His remains were also laid to rest here by decision of the authorities from 1938 to 1988, and were then transported to the Warsaw Cathedral.
Since 1866 the church was converted into an Orthodox church, in 1918 it was returned to the Catholics.
In the mid-1950s, the Trinity Church was closed and used as a warehouse. After World War II, the church was abandoned and deteriorated for a long time, and its roof collapsed.
In 2009, work began to restore its original appearance, which continued until 2020. Among the debris, a fragment of the dial with a preserved hand was found, which allowed restorers to recreate the original 18th-century tower clock. One of the four sculptures (the sculpture of John), decorating the church on one side, has also been preserved. Next to the church is an old one-story priest's house.
A charming church with gorgeous architecture, which, when traveling around Brest region, should definitely be added to your local history route in order to get acquainted with its history and see it with your own eyes.
