Vitebsk. Intercession Cathedral.

Vitebsk Saint-Patron Cathedral was built in the 19th century. And it originally belonged to the Trinitarian Catholic Church, which was built on the site of a wooden church of the 18th century. After the closure of the Catholic monastery, it was transferred to the Orthodox Department and rebuilt under the Orthodox Church, which was consecrated as the Intercession Church. During the Nazi occupation, the temple worked and it was here that the relics of Euphrosyne Polotsk were originally located, which were then transported to Polotsk. During the war, the church was badly damaged and stood neglected until 1989. It was restored at the end of the 1980s according to the project of architects B. Lyadenko and I. Ratko. The Pokrovsky Church is a monument of classicism architecture. It has three naves. The main facade is decorated with two single-story towers - belfries. The entrance portal is distinguished by an arched pediment with a fresco of the Mother of God, and above it a panel fresco of the Trinity. Also on the east side of the cathedral is the St. Athanasius Church, which was restored in 1989. The church is small in size compared to the Pokrovsky Cathedral and is a rectangular brick building under a gable roof.
