Vidzy. Church of the Holy Trinity.

The first Catholic church in the village of Vidzy was founded in the 15th century. Then, in the 18th century, representatives of the Catholic Jesuit order founded their own church and school. The church was closed in the 19th century during the Russian Empire.

The Catholics began building a new church at the beginning of the 20th century and completed it just before the war in 1914.

The church is considered the tallest in Belarus, its height is 59 meters. During the First World War, the front was near Vidzy, and the building of the church was badly damaged - one tower was broken. After the war, the Catholic shrine was restored (during Polish times), and in memory of the war, some shells were embedded in the walls of the building.

The church was built in the neo-Gothic style according to the design of Vaclav Mikhnevich (1866-1947), a famous Belarusian and Lithuanian architect. The temple is a three-nave basilica built on a stone foundation. It has a two-tower façade with telescopic multi-tiered towers. The church is active. When the temple is open and you want to see the landscapes and neighboring Lithuania, which is only a few kilometers away, ask permission to climb the tower of the church.
