Description

The Vavzhetsky estate in the village of Vidzy-Lovchinskie was built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries on the shores of Lake Dvornoye. It is a monument of manor and park architecture. The village is located 2 km from the urban village of Vidzy, located almost on the border of Belarus and Lithuania. In the 19th century, these places became famous for the hydrogen sulfide springs available here and the first health resort built on their basis.

The first owners of these places were the noble family of the Narucheviches, but all the main historical events of the end of the 18th century took place and were associated with representatives of the princely family, the Belarusian-Lithuanian nobles of Vavzhetsky. Lieutenant General Tomasz Vavzhetsky participated in the Tadeusz Kosciuszko liberation uprising and led the rebel forces in 1974.

The palace, built in the classical style, and the park with a pond have been preserved to our time.

The Vovzhetsky estate in the village of Vidzy-Lovchinskie.

The main attraction of the town of Vidzy-Lovchinskie is the former estate of the Vovzhetsky family.

The manor house is one-story, rather modest in size. It stands on a high stone plinth. The main entrance has obvious features of classical architecture, and stands out with a portico on four tall columns made of wood.

The park side with an arched stone gallery, completed by an attic, looks much more interesting. Initially, this facade was a wooden porch, which was replaced in 1900 with a new two-level terrace designed by Tadeusz Rostvorowski. This part of the estate belongs to the pseudo-Renaissance architecture.

The upper arcade is decorated with semi-columns with pilasters, the lower one is without decorative elements. Stairs leading to the embankment are located on both sides of the arcade gallery. The ground floor is a massive basement with utility rooms, perhaps some of them were also used as housing.

Opposite the manor house was the front rectangular ground floor, an open part of the garden with lawns, flower beds, a pond, borders of shrubs decorated with sculptures and a fountain. On one side of the house there was a utility yard and brick buildings, and on the other - a landscape-type park. There were interesting tree species in the park: gray walnut, brittle willow, European larch, holly and silver maples, oak petiolate. Some types of trees have been preserved here to this day.

The general condition of the estate is currently deplorable. If you wish, you can look inside the former manor, but there is nothing authentic left.: the years of Soviet use have not passed without a trace. There were also entrances from the ends of the estate, but, unfortunately, the wooden stairs were not preserved.

The last official owner of the name was Vladislav Mineyko. After 1939, the estate in Vidzy-Lovchinskie was nationalized. From 1965 to 2006, a local school operated here.

However, Vidzy-Lovchinskie attracts tourists who choose to stay in Belarus, not only by the estate of the Vovzhetsky family. In the 19th century, this village was famous throughout Europe for its hydrogen sulfide springs. It is well known that in the 19th century, the hereditary gentry of Mineyko opened one of the first health resorts in Belarus here. Doctors worked there and Russian nobility came here to improve their health. In the last century, the spa fell into disrepair and now only the remains of the baths in the forest remind of the fact of its existence, the location of which is known only to local residents. But the Lazenka hydrogen sulfide spring is still located in the village of Vidzy-Lovchinskie. This type of healing waters is very rare in Belarus, and today this source is being investigated by the Institute for the Use of Natural Resources and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Reviews about this water from scientists are very optimistic. This, in turn, can attract a large number of tourists to the village who prefer rehabilitation and treatment in Belarus.

Excursion routes around Belarus, ecological tours and weekend tours also run through the Vidzy-Lovchinskie estate.

Widzy-Łowczynskie. Wawrzecki estate.

If you visit the village of Vidzy and see its numerous architectural monuments, then near the church on the right there is a road to Vidzy-Łowczynskie. This village is only 4 kilometers away. First of all, this village is interesting because the estate of the Belarusian noble family of Wawrzecki has been preserved here. If you decide to come here, do not forget your passport, because the state border with Lithuania is only a couple of kilometers away.

The estate was built near Lake Dwornoye at the end of the 18th century. It first belonged to the Wawrzecki family, and then to the Mineykas. The most famous representative of the Wawrzecki family was General Tomasz Wawrzecki (1753–1816), one of the leaders of the 1794 uprising led by Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The general's grave has been preserved in the nearby village of Vidzy.

You can leave your car near the road and walk to the palace through the park. But first, visit the unique hydrogen sulphide springs, which are located on the left side in the thickets of the park. The source with hydrogen sulphide water has healing properties, in the 19th-20th centuries there was even a sanatorium here, where patients with skin diseases came. You will have the opportunity to take the healing water with you, because the source is well-maintained.

The manor palace is located on the shore of the lake. It is a one-story wooden building in the classical style. It is worth going around the palace and seeing its two facades, different in architecture - the facade facing the lake, and the other facing the courtyard. There is a landscaped park around the house. Several outbuildings have been preserved.

During the Soviet era there was a school here. In recent years the manor building has not been used and is falling into disrepair.
