The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a unique architectural monument, which is almost two centuries old.

The Catholic parish in this area was founded in 1789, while in other cities similar communities arose a century before. The wooden church in Vereyki was built at the end of the 18th century. After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1795, the Grodno region was ceded to the Russian Empire, and the owner of the Vereyki at that time was Theodor Bisping, who ruled the village with 12 courtyards and 123 inhabitants. Over the next twenty years, the population increased significantly.

According to the Riga Peace Treaty of 1921, Vereyki became part of Poland, and by the end of the 1940s they became part of the Belarusian SSR. The interesting history of the local church of the Transfiguration of the Virgin Mary began in 1826, when an agreement was reached on its construction. The daughter of the landowner, Alexandra, fell in love with an Orthodox officer, and an interfaith marriage became possible with the construction of a Catholic church.

The church was consecrated in 1840. The first priest was Kazimierz Constry. It is known that a basement was built in the church, in the niches of which representatives of the Bisping family were buried.

Unfortunately, the architecture of the building has changed significantly over the two centuries of its existence and as a result of wars, and in 1964 a Byzantine tower was added to it.

Local residents tried to restore the original appearance of the church in 1992, but it was impossible without documents. As a result, thanks to the archives, the church regained its columns. An ancient wooden staircase has been preserved inside, which holds many memories. There is a beautiful garden with rare plants around: Manchurian walnut, Japanese sakura, metosequoia, tulip tree and others that create a magical atmosphere.
