Velikie Krivichi. Alexander Nevsky Church.

In the small town of Velikie Krivichi, on the very outskirts, the Orthodox Church of St. Alexander Nevsky stands on a hill. It is not easy to get to this village, as it is located away from the main highways. It is best to come here from the town of Rakov, which is on the Minsk-Vilnius highway.

According to some historical sources, the first church in Bolshye Krivichi was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The new stone church was built in 1864 in the pseudo–Russian style, which was very popular in the Russian Empire at that time. Funds for the temple were allocated by the state treasury in the amount of five thousand rubles. There was a parish school at the church.

The church is made of stone, built of rubble stone. It consists of four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A wooden multi-tiered bell tower is built over the narthex. The refectory is covered with a gable roof. An octagonal drum with a spire is built over the main volume. The building has been renovated in recent years. The church is active. A stone stone fence with a gate was built in front of the temple. A road leads from the village to the church, which is made of cobblestone.

If you walk from the village along the road to the church, then the temple will be on the left, and a little further to go – from the right are the local cemeteries where the ruins of the chapel–tomb of the Sventozhetskys have been preserved.
