Velikaya Sloboda. Resurrection Church.
In the Korelichi district, in the village of Velikaya Sloboda, there are ruins of a stone Resurrection church. The village is located on the way from Korelichi to Mir Castle on the left side of the highway for a couple of kilometers.
The first Orthodox church in the village was built in 1863 at the local cemetery. At the end of the 19th century, the construction of a new stone church made of brick and rubble stone began.
The First World War did not allow the church to be completed. In 1915, when the front was nearby and military operations were taking place, a German shell hit the building and collapsed the roof.
In Soviet times, after the Great Patriotic War, local residents dismantled part of the church for building materials.
In 2003, a new wooden church with features of folk wooden architecture was built nearby. The building consists of three main parts: a vestibule, a prayer hall and an apse.
