Usovo. The Reitan Chapel.

There is a small village of Usovo in the Kopyl district. Once there was the estate of the Reitans, and then the family of the Plyaters. On the very outskirts of the village, the stone Catholic Reitan chapel has been preserved to this day.

The temple is made of stone brick, built in the classical style. It has a quadrangle in the plan. Covered gable roof. There is a triangular pediment above the main facade.

The temple was built and consecrated during the Russian Empire in 1863. After the anti–Russian uprising of 1863-1864, no divine services were held in the chapel.

The building was renovated in 1898. Consecrated by Father Daletsky. In the winter of 1900, permission was obtained to hold divine services in the chapel. The permission was given by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Empire.

The estate belonged to the Reitan family in the 19th century. It is believed that Stanislav Reitan and his wife Salome were buried in this chapel.

Stanislav Reitan (1781-1863) was a political and public figure, writer. He studied in Vilna and served in the army. After the war with the French in 1813, he lived in the Slutsk entrance. In 1840, he was elected marshal of the Slutsk district. He was an honorary curator of the Slutsk Gymnasium.

According to some reports, shortly before his death, Reitan transferred his estate in the town of Usovo to a hospital. He and his wife Salome had no children. He wrote works of fiction and memoirs. He was published in newspapers and magazines.

Then the owners of the Usovo estate were the Plyaters. The palace was a one-story wooden building in the classical style. There was nothing left of the manor.
