Description
The Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos is a beautiful Orthodox church in the agro-town of Turets, whose history began back in 1747. It is a significant monument of the Turets.
The Holy Intercession Church is located in the very heart of the settlement, on a hill, which makes it visible from afar. It is no coincidence that Yanka Bryl (famous belarusian writer) himself admired the beauty of these places!

The Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos is a beautiful Orthodox church in the agro-town of Turets, whose history began back in 1747.
The first wooden church in the local settlement was built in 1747. 80 years later, it was rebuilt, and in 1861, major repairs were carried out. However, the wooden structure eventually fell into disrepair.
In 1886, it was dismantled, starting the construction of a stone church. Funds for the construction were allocated by both the tsarist government and local parishioners. In August 1888, the construction was completed, and in October the church was consecrated.
The architecture of the church is made in the retrospective Russian style of brick and rubble stone, with a cruciform shape. Five domes rise above the roof, and the two-tiered bell tower is crowned with an onion dome. The iconostasis was created by Grigory Loiko, a native of the village, at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He also presented the temple with a cypress Holy See.
In 1891, a parish school was built nearby.
The Church has witnessed many fates. For example, in 1909, Varvara Fedorovna and Ivan Mikhailovich Fedorov, later known as the writer Yanka Mavr, were married here.
In Soviet times, the temple was not closed, but even became a repository of icons from closed churches.
Today, you can see ancient icons of the XVIII–XIX centuries, as well as images donated by parishioners.
The Holy Intercession Church is the pride of the village of Turets and a popular place among tourists visiting Grodno region.
