Traby. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul.
The town of Traby has been known since the beginning of the 15th century and was probably named after the founder, Lithuanian Prince Trabus. In the XV century, Prince Trabus built a castle here. At the end of the XV century . Albrecht Gasthold, the grandson of Maria Trabska, began to own the Trabs, and from the Gastholds the estate passed to the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund I the Old, and then to his son Sigismund II Augustus – there was a royal residence here. After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1795, these places became part of the Russian Empire.
The church was founded around 1680, built in 1784 from wood. It is a monument of the Belarusian wooden architecture of the XVIII century.
A five-sided apse with low side sacristy is attached to the church. The gable roof turns into a hip roof above the apse. The main facade and apse are completed with faceted drums with circular heads. Decorative turrets with faceted heads are located at the corners of the pediment of the main facade. Inside the prayer hall, the vestibule is separated by a partition on which the choirs are located. The interior of the church was decorated in the early 20th century. The two-tiered carved iconostasis made of lacquered oak is decorated with columns with carved ornaments. An ancient icon of the XVIII century "Crucifixion" is kept in the temple.
The appearance of the church of Saints Peter and Paul is perfectly complemented by a natural stone fence and a bell tower gate, built at the beginning of the XX century.
In 2016, the church was included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
