Description

Timkovichi is one of the oldest settlements of the Kopyl district, located 25 kilometers from Nesvizh and has a rich history.
According to a beautiful legend, the village got its name in honor of the hero Timka, who once lived here, protecting the poor and weak. Timkovichi was first mentioned in 1499 in a judicial document issued by Grand Duke Alexander. At various times, the owners of these lands were the Khodkevichi, Sapieha, Polubinsky and Radziwills.

The childhood and youth of the famous Belarusian writer Kuzma Chorny passed here. In 1962, teachers and students of the Timkovichi school, under the guidance of the honored teacher Z. I. Romanenko, created a museum of the writer. In 1993, it received state status, and the exposition was renovated and expanded.

The Kuzma Chorny Literary Museum.

Famous Belarusian writer Kuzma Chorny spent his childhood and youth in the village of Timkovichi. Real name - Nikolai Karlovich Romanovsky, 1900-1944 - Belarusian writer, playwright, translator.

He graduated from a local two-grade college, worked in the Department of public education and taught. Chorny grew up among simple workers, for whom a piece of bread and one shirt for a year was a great happiness. His life and work were closely connected with these people, and the Belarusian people still honor his memory.

In 1962, teachers and students of the Timkovichi school, under the guidance of the honored teacher Z. I. Romanenko, created a museum of the writer. In 1993, it received the status of a state museum, and the exposition was updated.

The museum is located in five halls, where Chorny's personal belongings, his manuscripts, books and photographs are displayed. Here you can hear the writer's voice recorded on magnetic tape. The exhibition halls are decorated with the drawings of the writer himself, which, combined with the expositions, allow you to feel the inner world of the writer more deeply.

The museum also offers quests where visitors can learn more about the writer's life and work, see first editions of his works, and solve puzzles related to his pseudonyms. The museum has a flannel theater, where local residents stage performances.

The museum hosts various events: evenings of memories, literary and musical evenings, creative meetings with Belarusian writers. A special place in the museum's activities is occupied by museum and pedagogical classes with schoolchildren.

In June, the literary and musical festival “Timkovichi Origins” is held here, dedicated to Kuzma Chorny's birthday.
