Svyatsk. Palace of the Volovichs.
The beginning of the construction of the palace and park complex is considered to be 1779, when, on the initiative of the Grodno Marshal Jozef Volovich, the ideological inspirer of the project, the famous, talented and very popular at that time Italian architect Giuseppe Sacco began to implement it. It was thanks to his light hand that the palace appeared before people in all its splendor, combining the most characteristic features of three styles at once: baroque, classicism, and in the interior decoration - romanticism.
After the death of Yuzef Volovich in 1779, his son Antony continued his father's work on the construction of the palace and park complex. The best were involved in the work - famous artists Smuglewicz and Mankovsky, the Italian painter Tambari. A whole team of talents worked on the creation of this pearl so that it would become not just a weekend residence, but a real family estate, the family nest of the ancient Belarusian noble family of Volovich.
During World War I, the palace was damaged and looted, and rare tree species in the park perished. In 1930, the palace became the property of the Polish Health Department, and an elite rehabilitation center was located within its walls. From 1946, the building housed a hospital for disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and from 1971 to 2005, a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients.
In 2009, the palace and park complex was transferred to OAO Sanatorium Ozerny. And since 2019, active work has begun on the restoration of the palace complex and the restoration of the park area. Currently, the complex is available for visiting: first of all, the territory of the complex itself and the palace square with a unique historical atmosphere of the Volovichi times. Also in the palace and park complex "Vyaliki Svyatsk Valovichau" there is a cozy comfortable hotel "Svyatski Palace" with 22 rooms. Reconstruction is ongoing.
