Svisloch. The Museum of Local Lore.

The written history of the town of Svisloch begins in the 13th century. You can learn about such a long way through the centuries of Svisloch in the regional museum called the Svisloch Historical and Local History Museum.

The institution is located in a pre-revolutionary building, an architectural monument that was built in 1907. At first there was a Jewish tavern here, and after the war the board of the collective farm, a music school and a hotel. In 1976, by decision of the local authorities, the Museum of Local lore began to work here.

The first hall of the museum called "The history of the town of Svisloch" is dedicated to the history from antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century. A significant place in this exhibition belongs to the history of the Tyshkevich magnates, namely Vikenty Tyshkevich, who invested heavily in the development of Svisloch, and who was a sponsor of the local men's gymnasium.

The model of the town is on display at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, when Svisloch had a Gostiny Dvor, a gymnasium, a park, a menagerie, a theater and a shopping area. Special attention is paid to the gymnasium and its outstanding graduates: writers, politicians, historians and poets.

The second hall of the museum is dedicated to the military events that directly affected Svisloch and the region. It tells about the events of 1812, the First World War, the Great Patriotic War and other tragic events. Materials from the time of the Polish occupation of 1921-1939 are also presented.

There is also an exhibition hall attached to the museum, where first of all their own collections are exhibited.
