Sukhari. Assumption Church
On the way from Mogilev to Mstislavl along the old Vilna highway there is a place called Sukhari. The architectural dominant of the village is the ancient Orthodox Holy Dormition Church. The church is right next to the highway and you don't have to turn anywhere. If you drive up to the temple, you will see a small parking lot near the church where you can park your car. Here, near the parking lot, a memorial sign was installed several years ago, on which the short history of the town of Sukhari, which have been known since the 16th century, is written.
The Assumption Church was built at the end of the 19th century on a hill near the banks of the Resta River. The first temple on this site was mentioned back in the 18th century. The temple is made of stone. It was built according to a standard project in pseudo–Russian style. The church has 4 main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A prayer hall with side chapels. There is a light drum above the center of the church. The bell tower - narthex is a multi-tiered octagonal finished with a dome.
A pre-revolutionary wrought-iron fence has been preserved around the church. In Soviet times, the church was adapted for storage. It has been restored in recent years. The church is active.
