Strigin. The Church of St. John the Theologian.

In the Bereza district, a few kilometers from the district center, there is a place called Strigin. Bereza and the village are separated only by the Yaselda River, and the M1 highway very close by.

In Strigin, there is a guardian church in the local cemetery, which has been around for more than two centuries. At the beginning of the 19th century, during the Russian Empire, Strigin was part of the Slonim district of the Grodno province, and during this period, in 1817, a wooden church was built in the local cemetery, which was consecrated in honor of St. John the Theologian. In some documents, the temple is called a chapel, and in some it is called a church.

The church was built at the expense of local resident Vasily Kruk. The shrine was used for the funeral service of the Uniates in the cemetery. A little later, the church was handed over to Orthodox believers after the ban of Uniatism in the Russian Empire in 1839.

During the Soviet Union, the church did not work. In the last years of the USSR, the building was handed over to Orthodox believers. In 1990, the church was renovated: a new roof was made, and a vestibule was added. The shrine was consecrated again.

Now the church is used as the parish church of the Orthodox parish in the village of Strigin. The building has the status of an architectural monument.
