Borisoglebskaya chapel and the Holy shrine in the village of Starye Staiki.

The old Belarusian village of Starye Staiki is located in the Shklov district of the Mogilev region, about five kilometers from the district center. At the beginning of the 11th century, the relics of Prince Gleb, who was killed near Smolensk, were transported along the Dnieper River near Svyatochnitsa. There is a revered chapel of the holy Martyrs Boris and Gleb in the churchyard of the Starye Staiki. The exact date of the chapel's construction is unknown, but many local legends and traditions are connected with its origin.

According to one legend, the settlement and the chapel in the local churchyard appeared as a result of the tragedy. Two merchant brothers, returning from a successful auction, were killed, as they were carrying great wealth along the Dnieper, among which, according to rumors, was a golden sword. Later, a chapel was erected over the grave, in which all the wealth and the sword were buried. Two men from a neighboring village decided to verify the truth of this legend. Armed with crowbars, they began to chisel the stone floor of the chapel, but were stopped by the inhabitants of the Starye Staiki, who drove away the "treasure hunters". Soon one of them drowned in the Dnieper River, and the second had a heart attack in the cemetery, and it was not possible to save him.

According to another legend, which does not coincide with the official history, the remains of the holy Princes Boris and Gleb, who were brought here along the Dnieper river, are buried under the chapel.

The holiday, celebrated in their honor on August 6, has become the main local celebration, gathering residents not only of the Starye Staiki, but also of the surrounding villages, as well as citizens from Shklov, Orsha and Mogilev. After the service in the chapel, the faithful traditionally go in a procession to the holy Borisoglebskaya shrine, where a water prayer service is served.

According to local residents, before the revolution, there was a wooden chapel with a crystal cross above the tomb. During the period of atheism, the chapel was destroyed and the cross was lost. There is still a large foundation stone next to the tomb. The water of the holy well is considered curative, especially helps in cases of infertility. The holy spring is located near the chapel, right behind the village gardens, and next to it there is another spring that gushes from the foot of the mountain.
