The Smorgon Museum of Local Lore invites everyone to explore the historical past of the Smorgon land.
Originally located in the Calvinist church, the museum has gone through several stages of development, a change of profile and a temporary relocation.
In 2013, after major repairs, a permanent exhibition was opened, covering 211 m2 (exhibition hall) and 193 m2 (exposition).
The museum's exhibitions cover various topics:
- "Krevo in the XIV-XVII centuries.", which demonstrates archaeological finds and a model of the castle;
- Smorgon Fairground, introducing crafts and the famous 'Bear Academy';
- "Light and Darkness: the twentieth century", which reflects the events of wars and modern history;
- "We are all in love with our land", dedicated to famous countrymen.
Among the most significant projects of the museum are the international conference in 2007 dedicated to the First World War in Belarus, and the exhibition of graphics by veteran artists of the Great Patriotic War, organized in 2010 jointly with the National Art Museum.
The museum's collection includes more than 10,000 exhibits, among which are particularly valuable Kreva ceramics of the XIV-XVI centuries, a photo album of the family of Ivan Sinitsky of the early XX century and magazines "The Great War in images and pictures" from 1916-1917.
The museum actively conducts thematic excursions, organizes evenings, meetings, local history quizzes and presentations.
