Slonim. The Town Hall building.

The town hall has been preserved in the historical center of Slonim. The building is located at the intersection of Sovetskaya and Pervomaiskaya streets. There used to be a shopping area here. On the left and on the right there were one– and two-story houses of artisans and merchants, and in the middle of the square there were shopping malls - a one-story long building with a rectangular plan and benches of merchants around the perimeter.

The monument was erected in the second half of the 18th century in the Baroque style. Later, the building was rebuilt several times.

After the Great Patriotic War, the city executive committee worked in the building.

And now the Yakub Kolas Slonim Regional Library has been located here since 1988. Since 1993, the library has hosted a Museum of Belarusian Books, which houses many rarities and manuscripts related to our writers. There is a lot of information, documents and books with autographs of our famous writers and poets: Yakub Kolas, Valentin Tavlai and other writers. A separate room is dedicated to fellow countryman Oleg Loiko, an outstanding literary critic, poet and writer.

The monument is a two-storey stone building, rectangular in plan. Previously, the entrance was decorated with a four-column portico with a sculpture on the pediment. Pilasters have been preserved from the former decoration.

The building has the status of an architectural monument.
