Slonim. Trinity Church and the Bernardine Monastery.

The Orthodox Trinity Church is located in the historical center of the city of Slonim near Lenin Square. A two-storey stone building of the former Bernardine monastery is attached to the church.

Previously, the church building belonged to the Catholic Church, which was built in the 17th century. The church was built in 1645 on the site of an old wooden church, which was built in 1630 at the expense of Catherine and Andrei Radvan. The monastery building was built in 1749.

During the Russian Empire, after the suppression of the anti–Russian uprising of 1863-1864, the church was handed over to Orthodox believers and rebuilt as the Trinity Church. The building was rebuilt as an Orthodox church in 1866 according to the project of the Grodno provincial engineer V. Nebolsin. And the premises of the monastery were rebuilt as a theological school designed by architect Tikhvinski.

In 1874, a gate and fence project was created with a terrain plan, which was made by architect Leonard Krzyzanowski.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the monastery building was adapted as an administrative office. During the time of the Polish state in the 1920s and 1930s, an administrative office also worked in the building. Now there is a dormitory of the Slonim State Medical College.

The church is a monument of Baroque and Rococo architecture. It is a single-nave church with a multi-faceted bell tower. A few years ago, a gilded onion dome was installed on the bell tower instead of the historic tent dome.

Trinity Church is a Baroque architectural monument in the city of Slonim.

The historical roots of the Holy Trinity Church go back centuries. It is known that in the place of the modern temple in the 16th century there was a wooden Orthodox church dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It housed the revered icon of St. Anthony Pechersky, who was the patron saint of all Russian monks. On the day of his memory, solemn services were held here, gathering many believers.

After the Union of Brest in 1596, the church was handed over to Catholics and soon dismantled. A church was built in its place in 1635-1645, and in 1749 the Bernardine monastery was founded. In order to erase the memory of the shrines from the memories of Orthodox Christians, the church replaced the divine services in honor of St. Anthony with the services of the Catholic St. Anthony of Padua.

The Bernardine Monastery was closed in 1864.

The church building was returned to the Orthodox in 1867 and the days in memory of St. Anthony began to be celebrated again.

In 2002, the church received the status of a cathedral, uniting parishes and religious organizations.

The church is a single-altar stone church with an elongated presbytery and a semicircular altar apse. It is equipped with a three-tiered tower with bells and a square-shaped first tier, which is topped with a hipped roof, as well as buttresses. In 1668 and 1750, two side chapels with domes were added to the apse. The walls of the temple have large windows with semicircular tops. The main entrance is decorated with order elements.

The interior of the church, like its facade, stands out for its strict simplicity. The walls and vaults have no decorative frills, with the exception of stucco decoration in the upper part. The 18th century main altar with Rococo elements serves as the central accent inside.

On the south side of the temple is the monastery, which is a two-story U-shaped stone residential building built of brick in the middle of the 18th century.
