Slonim. Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral.

The Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Saviour is located in the historical center of the city of Slonim along Pushkin Street. The building was rebuilt during the Russian Empire in the early 19th century from the former Catholic church of the Lateran Regular Canons of the 17th century.

The church was founded in 1635 by the foundation of Jan Stanislav Sapieha, who is the eldest son of Lev Sapieha, and Bishop Euphemy Gorbatsky of Pinsk. The church was given an estate with land. The monastery complex was located on a shopping mall at the very tip of the square. The Catholic shrine occupied an entire block and included the Church of the Body of God and a two-story residential and one-story utility building. There was also a vegetable and flowers gardens. The church was built in the Renaissance style. It had side chapels and a facade with a shield.

During the Russian Empire, the monastery was closed in 1832 after an anti-Russian uprising. And the church was rebuilt as an Orthodox cathedral, which was named Spaso-Preobrazhensky. The Christian shrine was demolished after the war in the 1950s.

In the 2000s, the temple was rebuilt. Near the church there is a monument to V. Lenin, who very effectively points his hand at the Orthodox church.
