Slonim. I. Stabrovsky Regional Museum of Local Lore.

In the historical center of the city of Slonim there is a museum of local lore in an ancient building. The museum was initially private and opened back in the days of the Polish state in 1929. The museum was founded by the famous local historian and archaeologist, Colonel of the Tsarist Army Joseph Stabrovsky (1870-1968).

Throughout his life, I. Stabrovsky studied the history of his region and collected a unique collection. With the advent of Soviet power in 1939, 5,000 exhibits were donated to the State Museum in Slonim. During the occupation, the museum's collection was saved from looting and export to Germany, thanks to I. Stabrovsky.

Since 1957, the museum has been located in a stone two-story ancient 19th-century building on Lenin Square, 1. In 2002, a granite memorial plaque in honor of Joseph Stabrovsky was unveiled in a solemn ceremony on the museum building.

To date, the museum's exposition is presented in 10 halls covering an area of 400 square meters. The museum has about 30 thousand exhibits. Many of the exhibits are unique, for example, an idol from the 10th century, a numismatic collection of coins from the 17th – 19th centuries, archaeological finds from excavations, a bronze bust of Napoleon from the 19th century, a Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from the 17th century, and much more.

Souvenirs can be purchased at the museum.
