Description
The ancient city of Slonim has many architectural monuments and ancient religious buildings. Perhaps the smallest iconic ancient building is the chapel of St. Dominic. The chapel is located at the intersection of Mickiewicz Street and Pushkin Street. The chapel was built in the 18th century during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the Baroque style, or, as some researchers note, in the Rococo style. The chapel is a stone three-tiered one. The second tier previously housed a gilded wooden sculpture of St. Dominic.

Slonim. St. Dominic's Chapel.
In the city of Slonim, a stone chapel of St. Dominic was built at the intersection of A. Pushkin and A. Mickiewicz streets. The chapel was built of brick during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1745.
In that era, two chapels were created at the entrance to the city, which were like border signs. The second chapel has not survived to our time. The chapel is a monument and is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
The Chapel of St. Dominic is a small brick building, centered and three-tiered, like a tower. The two lower tiers have a square cross-section, with the faces concave and the corners cut off. The first tier in the chapel is monolithic and massive, which is mounted on a low plinth. The second tier of the monument is through with four arched openings. There used to be a wooden gilded sculpture of St. Dominic here. The old sculpture has not survived to our time and now a new one has been installed. The third tier of the chapel is a figured concave turret with a four-pitched hipped roof. There is a cross at the very top.
Saint Dominic (1170-1221) was a Catholic saint, monk, and preacher. He was born in Spain. The founder of the Dominican Order, or it is also called the Order of preachers.
