Sloboda. Alexander Nevsky Church.
In the village of Sloboda, Myadel district, a stone Orthodox church was built on a hill, which was consecrated in honor of St. Prince Alexander Nevsky.
The temple was built in the center of the village during the time of the Russian Empire sometime in 1880. Previously, there was an old wooden church on this site, which was built in the early 19th century in 1814. The ancient wooden church was built at his own expense by the owner of the local estate, nobleman Gutorovich. Since 1861, a parish school has been opened in the village.
In Soviet times, the Alexander Nevsky Church was closed and by the end of the 1980s the building was in disrepair. Then the shrine was handed over to the Orthodox believers, fundraising and the search for patrons began. In the 1990s, the church was rebuilt and began to operate.
The monument was erected in a retrospective Russian style according to a standard rubble stone project. The building consists of four main architectural parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. An octal bell tower is built over the vestibule. The main volume is covered by a four-pitched roof.
The interior has a single-tiered iconostasis with 4 icons of the Evangelists. There is an icon above the royal gate "The Last Supper".
