Slavgorod. A post office and a local history museum.

For a long time, the ancient city of Slavgorod was without a local history museum. And the museum was supposed to be created in the building of the former postal station of the 19th century. In 2015, the Slavgorodsky Regional Museum of Local Lore opened its doors to visitors in a modern building near the postal station. The museum has several halls where you can see monuments of archeology, ethnography, a large collection of historical artifacts dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. A separate section is occupied by an exposition that tells us about the Chernobyl disaster and the lost villages. After all, Slavgorodsky district was severely damaged during the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 and many villages were evicted to clean areas of Belarus.

The museum staff has collected an interesting collection of towels and peasant life. After all, the traditional Belarusian peasant culture has almost disappeared into oblivion and the valuable exhibits of the museum will give us an idea of how Belarusians lived in the Propoysk lands hundreds of years ago. Slavgorod was called Propoysk until 1945.

In front of the museum is the building of a 19th–century postal station, which was built on the Moscow-Warsaw postal route. The building was built according to a standard design. In the future, the postal station is planned to be restored and become a branch of the museum.
