Description
The ruins of the Domeyko estate complex are the main attraction of the village of Sitcy in the Dokshitsy district. Here you can see the remaining mysterious fragments of the once majestic estate, which are literally “saturated” with history.
The estate in Sitcy was first mentioned in 1567 as the property of the magnate Khodkiewicz family. In the 17th–18th centuries, it belonged to the Brzostowski family. In 1798, Sitcy became the property of the Domeyko family. One of its owners, Tadeusz Domeyko, was the uncle of the famous geologist, geographer, and national hero of Chile, Ignatius Domeyko.
The estate complex in Sitcy included a manor house, outbuildings, a greenhouse, and a landscape park. Only the baroque entrance gates (which once had a wooden mechanism that kept a large cuckoo clock running), the columns of the palace portico, several outbuildings from the 18th–19th centuries, the fence and the old park with a 500-year-old oak “patriarch” have survived to this day.

Mysterious fragments of what was once a large and majestic estate of the Domeyko family.
The first mention of the estate in Sitcy dates back to 1567. Initially, the estate was the property of the magnate Khodkiewicz family, and in the 17th-18th centuries it belonged to the Brzostowskis. In 1798, the estate and its lands became the property of the Domeyko family. One of the owners of the estate was the uncle of Ignatiy Domeyko himself - a famous geologist, geographer and ethnologist, a national hero of Chile of Belarusian origin.
The estate complex in Sitcy was once quite luxurious and large. It included the master's house, a number of outbuildings, a greenhouse and a park. Unfortunately, the estate house burned down in a fire in 1830. Only four majestic stone columns remain today. A new wooden estate house was built deep in Domeyki Park; it was destroyed during World War II.
Today we can see here a half-ruined three-tiered gate (entrance gate), ruins of several outbuildings from the 18th-19th centuries, as well as fragments of an old park, on the edge of which grows a 500-year-old oak. This ancient tree is impressive!
There is also another landmark in the village - the Church of St. George, built here in 1913 and still in operation. The temple is an example of retrospective Russian style architecture, a bell tower with one dome is attached to it. It is known that the church library contains very old books.
Unfortunately, time has not been kind to the estate and little has been preserved. Despite this, the estate complex in the village of Sitsy is an important historical and cultural value and an interesting landmark of Belarus, worthy of a visit along with the Church of St. George.
This area is very quiet, the atmosphere allows you to immerse yourself in the past.
