Description

The temple is an outstanding architectural monument of the retrospective Russian style. It belongs to the type of cross-domed churches with a bell tower. Its three-dimensional composition is dominated by a 3-tiered tent-shaped octagonal bell tower and a cylindrical drum topped with an onion-shaped dome. The decoration of the temple uses elements such as kokoshniks, shoulder blades and architraves of arched window openings, which gives it a special architectural expressiveness.

This majestic temple was built by local craftsmen on the site of the original wooden church and consecrated on June 9, 1913. Special attention is attracted by its three-tiered tent bell tower and a cylindrical drum topped with a dome. This gives the temple greatness and upward orientation, symbolizing the connection of earth and sky.

Sittsy. Church of St. George the Victorious.

The temple was built at the beginning of the XX century. For several years, Abbot Evstafy Nedelsky collected donations for the construction of St. George's Church. Among the donors were such outstanding personalities, now glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church in the face of saints, as Emperor Nicholas II and Archpriest John of Kronstadt. There is evidence that the domes of the temple were erected by a local craftsman Stanislav Sinyavsky, and the crosses were installed by Joseph Grigorovich from the village of Kurdeki.

The Church of St. George the Victorious, located in the village of Sittsy, is an architectural monument of the retrospective Russian style and belongs to the type of cross-domed churches with a belfry. Its architectural composition impresses with its majestic forms and details, which emphasize the historical and cultural significance of the temple.

The temple is not only a place of worship, but also the keeper of a rich historical heritage. There are 280 volumes of books in his archive and the church library, among which there are very old editions. The entrance to the library is strictly limited, which emphasizes the value and uniqueness of the books stored there. These volumes are of great historical and cultural significance, and their contents can rightfully be considered a treasure for researchers and believers.

In addition, a Sunday school for children and adults is open at the temple, which allows everyone to deepen their knowledge about faith and spiritual traditions. Sunday school plays an important role in educating the younger generation, instilling in them respect for spiritual values and history.

During the First World War, the temple's property was evacuated to the Moscow St. Danilov Monastery, from where it disappeared without a trace. Despite this loss, the Church of St. George continues its spiritual mission and now belongs to the Dokshitsky deanery. The Dokshitsky deanery takes care of its preservation and support, conducts regular divine services and church events.
