Shishovo. Church of the Holy Assumption.

The town of Shishovo, Kamenetsky district, is located seven kilometers from the district center. It was first mentioned in historical sources in the 16th century and at that time there was a state estate there. It was part of the Brest district of the Brest Voivodeship during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

In 1685, a Uniate church was built on the foundation of Fedora Tyshkovskaya, since at that time it was Tyshkovskaya who was the owner of the estate. After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, it became part of the Russian Empire and at the beginning of the 19th century the Uniate Church was handed over to Orthodox believers. In 1877, a new Orthodox church was built, which has survived to our time. The church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Dormition.

During the time of the Polish state, the building was reconstructed in 1930. The church was closed in Soviet times in 1961, and the property was looted. After the collapse of the USSR, the church was returned to the faithful and renovation began in 1991. In September 1991, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Konstantin of Brest and Kobrin.

The church is a rectangular building consisting of three main parts: a vestibule, a prayer hall and an apse. A rectangular apse and a sacristy are attached to the main volume. Above the vestibule is a two-tiered bell tower of eight on four. The main entrance is decorated with a canopy on four pillars above which there is a triangular pediment. The main volume is covered with a gable roof.

Not far from the church there is a beautiful lake, on the shore of which you can relax.
