Selets. St. Alexei's Church.

In the village of Selets, Bereza district, there are two ancient stone temples: the 19th-century Orthodox Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Catholic Church of St. Alexei. The first wooden church in the village was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1471. The name of the church in those days was in honor of St. Lavrin. The next Catholic church was built in 1519 at the expense of the Grand Duchess and Queen Bona Sforza.

After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the village became part of the Russian Empire and the church worked. After the anti–Russian uprising of 1863-1864, the church was closed, and the building was handed over to Orthodox believers. After some time, the wooden building was dismantled and a new stone Orthodox church was erected in its place.

It was only after the first Russian Revolution, when religious freedom was declared in the Russian Empire, that permission was given to build a new Catholic church. And in 1908-1912, a new Catholic church building was erected in the Neo–Gothic style. The temple was designed by architect Wilhelm Srok on the Market Square.

The church is a three-nave basilica. The dominant feature is a three-tiered bell tower: an octagon on two fours. There are choirs in the interior. There is a gate in front of the church. The chapel belongs to the church. The temple has been renovated in recent years.
