Memorial chapel in memory of the Patriotic War of 1812.

A cozy village with the sonorous name Saltanovka (formerly Soltanovka) is located in the Mogilev region. Here, during the Patriotic War, the "Battle of Soltanovka" took place. In honor of this significant historical event, a memorial chapel was built in 1912, just two kilometers from the village.

Architect Mikhailov and sculptor Yatsyno created this neoclassical monument, which is an interesting combination of traditional and romantic styles. There is a sense of austerity, pomp, and elegance. Pyotr Petrovich Yatsyno is known for his sculptures dedicated to the leaders of the Soviet state — V.I. Lenin and I.V. Stalin.

The ashes of Russian soldiers who fell in 1812 rest in the chapel, and commemorative plaques with the names of all participating regiments and divisions are placed on the facade. The main event took place on July 23, 1812, when Lieutenant General Nikolai Rayevsky led an attack on French troops. The battle ended with a Russian victory, which had a significant impact on Napoleon's strategy.

The events of the Patriotic War left a vivid mark on Belarusian history and commemorative signs such as obelisks and memorials remind of those times.
