Description

The memorial ensemble "Rylenki" is one of the most impressive monuments erected in Belarus in the territories where the remains of numerous soldiers of the Soviet Army are buried. In this place, it is especially acutely felt that memory is something animated. The complex is a center for extensive scientific activities, research and educational initiatives and events are organized here.

By the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, a large-scale restoration of the memorial was completed. A navigation stele was installed here, and an information stand with QR codes was placed in front of the entrance to the archway.

Memorial ensemble "Rylenki".

The Rylenki Memorial Complex celebrated its half-century anniversary in 2023, having been founded in 1973. The remains of more than ten thousand Soviet soldiers of the 11th Guards and 31st armies, who fell in fierce battles in the region from the autumn of 1943 to the summer of 1944, rest here. 9402 names have been identified.

The entrance to the complex is decorated with gates decorated with relief images of soldiers' faces. The memorial is based on slabs with the names of those buried. Along the path leading from the gate to the slabs, four steles dedicated to the exploits of the Heroes of the Soviet Union were erected: Yu.V. Smirnov, A.N. Vasilyev, A.A. Nikandrova, as well as S. Astakhov and B. de Foltano.

In the center of the complex is a monolith with the inscription "Your exploits are immortal", in front of which an Eternal Flame burns. The plaque says that the front line passed through these places and Operation Bagration began.

The authors of the monument are sculptor N.A. Ryzhenkov and architect M.F. Tkachuk. The complex is located near the village of Rylenki, on the 467th kilometer of the Moscow-Minsk highway, on the south side. The area of the complex is 3 hectares.

In 2010, a memorial sign was erected here to the 269th OMSB of the 251st Infantry Division. In 2011, an Orthodox chapel was built in honor of the August Icon of the Mother of God. A granite monument to Kazakhstanis who died in Belarus was unveiled in 2022.
