Rudniki. Church of the Intercession.
There is a 19th-century stone Orthodox church in the village of Rudniki, Pruzhany district. The decision to build a new church was made in 1866 and construction began on the site of an ancient wooden church. The old church was moved to the local cemetery, where services were held while the new church was being built.
At the same time, a difficult engineering and transport problem was solved, since it was decided to move the wooden church not in parts, but as a whole building, and a local peasant, Ivan Borisevich, from the village of Khorevo, took up the task.
The church measured 9.5 fathoms in length, 4.5 fathoms in width, and 8 fathoms in height. 221 rubles in silver were spent on the transfer of the temple. The cemetery church was consecrated by priest Konstantin Makovelsky.
And the construction of a new stone church began.
17,711 rubles and 55 kopecks were spent from the state treasury on the Intercession Church. The auxiliary work was carried out by the peasants of the Rudnikovo volost, where there were 340 yards. The work was carried out by peasants without payment.
The new Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos was consecrated in December 1872. The festive service for the consecration of the temple was conducted by a priest from Pruzhany, Nikolai Zhukovich. 5 priests also took part in the consecration, and there were more than a thousand "worshippers". Throughout its history, the Church of the Intercession has never been closed.
