Rozhkovka. The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God of Rozhkov.

The history of the Orthodox Church in the town of Rozhkovka is unique in that it was built during the Great Patriotic War in the occupied territory of Belarus. The church was built in 1943 and consecrated in honor of the Rozhkovskaya Mother of God. And the construction of the Orthodox church was preceded by an amazing history of the war period.

In 1942, during the occupation, the inhabitants of the town actively helped the partisans. For their connection with the partisans, the Nazis decided to punish the inhabitants of the town and destroy the adults and the elderly, and send the youth to Germany. And during this punitive action, a German officer flew in by plane, who ordered the execution to be stopped because the Mother of God appeared to him. The residents were sent home, and a few months later a new church was built. At the first service of the new church, the same German officer who saved the residents of Rozhkovka from being shot came to the village and brought a new icon of the Virgin Mary, which was painted by a wounded German soldier.

The temple is wooden, built in the traditions of folk architecture of the 18th - 19th centuries. The building consists of a single log cabin and forms a rectangular room in plan. A vestibule is attached to the facade, which is covered with a gable roof with a triangular pediment. The prayer hall is covered with a gable roof with an octagonal drum and an onion dome. The former church in the village was named after the Kazan Mother of God.
