Rossony. The Palace of nobleman Glazko.
There is an unusual castle-palace in the district town of Rossony on the shore of the lake. If you see this building, it will be difficult for you to determine its purpose, because from a distance it really looks like a defensive castle.
This is the palace of the local nobleman Glazko, which was built in the early 20th century. Locals call the estate in different ways: "Stanislavovo" and "House with a hundred windows".
There is a beautiful legend about the origin of this palace. The owner of the local estate, Stanislav Glazko, once went to Poland, where he fell in love with a girl from a magnate family. He offered to marry her, but she stipulated that he must first build a palace as beautiful and rich as her father's. Stanislav fulfilled the wish of his beloved and built an unusual palace.
In 1904, a neo-Gothic palace was built on the shore of Lake Rossony. Architect Edmund Frick. The palace looks like a Gothic church and a medieval castle at the same time. The composition of the building is asymmetrical and complex, with risalites and faceted bay windows, with rectangular volumes varying in volume. Numerous long corridors and turns decorated the interior of the palace. There were also secret staircases and numerous halls. The decoration of the halls was done in the Empire style, and the dining room in the “Gdansk" style. There was also an ”Oak" study in the building, which was decorated with numerous tapestries. The halls were decorated with paintings by famous artists and expensive fabrics. And in the basement there were vaulted ceilings and spacious rooms. There was also a pantry for groceries and a kitchen.
After the revolution, S. Glazko left his estate and had to go abroad. And the palace was given over to social institutions. Now there is a Center for children and youth working here.
