Ross. The Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity
The town of Ross has been known since the 16th century. The first owners of the estate here were the magnates Khodkevichi, then Rakovsky, Glebovich, Oginsky and Potocki. Several outbuildings have been preserved from the Potocki estate in Ross. There are buildings of a church and a synagogue of the 19th century among the monuments in the village.
The first Orthodox church in Ross is mentioned in documents in the 16th century. The issue of a petition for the construction of a stone temple was raised in December 1894 to the Grodno governor. Permission for the construction of the church has been obtained. In 1901-1903, the project of a new stone church was developed and approved. In 1908, a stone brick temple was built on a basement, which is made of rubble stone.
The church was built in pseudo-Russian style and consists of four main parts: the vestibule, refectory, prayer hall and apse.
The main entrance is created with a keel-shaped pediment on semi-columns.
Above the narthex there is a two-tiered bell tower-an octagon on a quadrangle. The upper tier of the bell tower is pierced by windows, which are completed with decorative kokoshniks, like ancient Russian temples. The bell tower ends with a tent with an onion. There are 2 additional entrances on the sides of the prayer hall. The apse is multifaceted with sacristy.
The church is surrounded by a stone fence.
