Chapel at the cemetery in Rogachev.

In the depths of the Rogachev old cemetery, three chapels have been preserved, built by various patrons of the city in the period from the second half of the 19th century in 1905 and 1912.

The oldest and first of them was built in the second half of the 19th century in the pseudo-Russian style. It was built by nobleman Vasily Greshner, who served as a forester at a high state level and was a very rich man. Seven people were buried in the Gresner family tomb. The entire local population of that time loved and respected Vasily Greshner very much, considering him a man who never deceived anyone or refused to help anyone. The chapel was not damaged during the Great Patriotic War. Around 1948-1949, several local residents entered the tomb for the purpose of robbery, and since the entrance to the burial crypt was walled up, they broke through the floor and opened the coffins. In order to prevent further desecration and destruction, the chapel was mothballed.

In the center of the tomb there is a small kiosk installed in a niche - cone on the eastern wall. In front of him is a lamp hanging on a metal vault, and a plaster dove is attached above the niche as the personification of the descent of the Holy Spirit in Orthodoxy.

The second chapel was built by Varvara Iolshina in 1905 for the burial of her husband, the former leader of the Rogachev nobility, Vasily Iolshin. Being wealthy and childless people, they gave a lot of money to charity. They built several brick houses in Rogachev, which they bequeathed to the city.: his house (the noble assembly gathered in it), the city theater with 600 seats, the building of the real school, the almshouse. The remaining funds after his death were bequeathed by the Iolshins to the real school to pay scholarships to poor students. The Rogachevites elected The Iolshins were honorary citizens of the city of Rogachev during their lifetime, and after their death, their good deeds were immortalized by naming one of the streets of the city - Iolshinskaya street. After her death in 1910, Varvara Iolshina was buried next to her husband in the family crypt.

The chapel was not damaged during the war, but it was damaged in the late fifties and early sixties. desecration and plunder. Chapel is an architectural monument of the pseudo-Russian style.

The Iolshins tomb is a four-sided tower-shaped structure, completed with a tent with an onion dome. The architectural decor (profiled rods, niches, ornaments, weights) is lined with red bricks. Inside, the room is blocked by a closed vault.

Religious building - the chapel of the Verzheysky family , which was built in 1912. It survived the Great Patriotic War and was used as a city morgue for 14 years, from 1945 to 1959. For some time, Catholics held divine services in it. Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Ivanovich Verzheysky was a member of the Rogachev district committee, as well as the foreman of the Rogachev public assembly. The chapel is a unique building with an onion on a hipped roof and decorative metal grilles on the windows. It was installed in the cemetery when Verzheysky's wife, Julia, who was ill for a long time, died. It was a holy place for the entire Verzheysky family. Chapel is a monument of classical architecture.

It is a pity that all these chapels are in a dilapidated state.
