Description

Merchant Ber Shmuilovich Belenky was one of the most respected residents of pre-revolutionary Rogachev. At a young age, he had to take over the business of his deceased foster father and continue trading in expensive fabrics. At the end of the 19th century, Belenky built a two-story brick house, in which he settled with his wife and children.

Today, the building is considered the most beautiful in the city. The eclectic-style facade of the house is rich in decor, which is painted in contrasting white and stands out vividly against the background of colored walls. In the late 1910s, the building was nationalized, and the merchant had to leave the country. However, the merchant's house still bears his name.
The house is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of Belarus.

The house of merchant Belenky in Rogachev is one of the most ancient buildings in the city.

The building is made of brick and is a two-story structure covered with a hip roof, which gives it a special expressiveness. In 1950, the house was reconstructed, which made it possible to preserve its architectural features and update its appearance.

The main facade of the building is completed with a developed cornice with characteristic croutons, which is one of the elements emphasizing the eclectic style. The facade is painted in two colors, which adds to its aesthetic appeal and sets it apart from the surrounding buildings.

The construction of the building was carried out by the Jewish merchant Berl Belenky, who was known for his intelligence and authority among the townspeople. He actively participated in the life of the city and was respected in the synagogue. Little is known about his origins, but in 1864 he was adopted by the influential Belenky family, engaged in wholesale trade. Berl inherited the business and became known as an honest seller of expensive fabrics. Due to his reputation, he received a significant insurance benefit, with which he built an impressive house in the city center, where he lived with his family until the spring of 1918.

In 1950, the building underwent reconstruction.

The facade was renovated in 2016.

Today, the elegant mansion not only serves as an example of the architectural heritage of its time, but is also an important part of Rogachev's cultural history. Its unique architectural details and harmonious proportions make the Merchant Belenky's house a significant monument that attracts the attention of both locals and tourists.

Rogachev. The house of the merchant Berl Belenky

Merchant Berl Belenky was a well-known and respected merchant of expensive fabrics in the city of Rogachev. Due to his honesty and impeccable reputation, he gained respect among the townspeople. For his services and honesty, Belenky received an impressive insurance prize, with the funds of which he built a large brick house in the center of Rogachev. This house became a family nest for Belenky and his family until the spring of 1918.

In 1950, the building underwent renovation, during which its interior layout was changed to meet modern requirements and amenities. Decades later, in 2016, on the eve of the Belarusian Writing Day, the facade of the house was completely restored, which restored the building to its historical appearance and attractiveness.

The two-storey building, covered with a hip roof, has become an ornament of the city center. The main facade of the house is completed with a developed cornice with croutons and decorated with small decorative shaped bricks, as well as wrought-iron balcony fences, which gives the building a special sophistication. The facade is painted in two colors, which makes it stand out from other buildings.

This architectural monument is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
