A unique hydrological natural monument located in a picturesque area on the way to Mount Mayak.
The Okmenitsa spring is the most powerful ascending spring in the territory of the Braslav Lakes National Park. The spring is surrounded by forests, which creates an impressive natural atmosphere. Clean and transparent water coming out of the ground forms a small river that flows into the nearest reservoir.
A variety of plant species, including rare and protected ones, are observed in the area around the spring. 17 species of aquatic invertebrates and rare plant species in Belarus and Europe have been identified in the spring, which are indicators of water purity. Modern studies of the spring have shown that mineral water of the sodium chloride type comes out on the surface here.
The Okmenitsa spring plays an important role in maintaining the ecosystem of the region. The purity of its waters is an indicator of the state of the environment, and any negative factor can lead to a deterioration in water quality and the diversity of life.
The spring has not only natural, but also cultural significance. In local legends, it is surrounded by many myths related to the healing properties of water. Locals and visitors of the region often visit this place not only to quench their thirst, but also for spiritual enrichment and recuperation.
The water in the spring is very cold, with a pronounced taste of sulfur and a yellowish tinge. According to the existing ancient belief, after collecting water, you should "pay the source" by throwing a coin into it or tying a ribbon to the nearest tree or bush. You can also make a wish.
50 meters from the spring there is a cool public camping Okmyanitsa, on the territory of which you can stay with tents.
The Okmenitsa spring is not only a source of clean water, but also an important element of natural heritage that must be protected and protected. Its preservation will help ensure the sustainable development of the region and allow future generations to enjoy its beauty and beneficial properties.
