The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Prusino is an architectural monument that has survived difficult times.
The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God has deep historical roots. The beautifier and donor of the temple was a local landowner Dmitry Afanasievich Bonch-Bruevich, who actively helped the parishioners. He was the father of two famous revolutionaries, Vladimir and Mikhail Bonch-Bruevich. The church has preserved an image of the Mother of God, presented by him, with the inscription: "Dmitry Afanasievich Bonch-Bruevich brings it to the memory of the servant of God Andrei, 1908."
The most notable detail of the temple is an octagonal drum topped with a tent with a bulbous head. In the 1990s, a three-tiered red brick bell tower decorated with half columns and belts was built nearby. Decorative elements are practically absent, with the exception of carved platbands.
After the revolution, the temple went through difficult times. It was closed in 1936, but was not completely demolished. During the war years, divine services resumed thanks to the return of Father Kosma Laptenko, who kept everything that the parishioners hid. The temple was used as a grain warehouse, but after the war services resumed intermittently.
In 1962, during the Khrushchev persecution, parish life was completely stopped, and the church was again transferred to the collective farm.
The peak of the sacrilege occurred in 1975. With the help of tractors, the dome and bell tower of the temple were demolished, and the church building was completely transformed into a village club.
In 1991, the community was registered. The clubhouse was returned to the faithful. From 1991 to 1994, restoration work was carried out. The lost wooden octagon of the dome's light drum was restored at the temple, covered with a tent and a crown with a cross was installed. The rafters and roof were completely renovated, windows and doors were replaced, three entrance porches were added, and a vestibule was added. The floor was replaced in places. The carved iconostasis was made by Bobruisk craftsmen. The Bobruisk artist D. V. Selyavo painted the missing icons for the iconostasis and painted the temple and the dome.
The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Prusino is not only an architectural monument, but also evidence of a complex history related to the faith and culture of the region.
