An architectural monument of the Russian retrospective style, an object of historical and cultural heritage of the 3rd category.
The church in Prozoroki was first mentioned in 1523. The current church building was erected in 1909. It is located on the outskirts of the village. It is known that earlier, a century ago, this part of the village was part of the estate of Major General Mukhin.
The temple was built of brick. The overall composition of the temple includes a two-tiered bell tower, a narthex, a cube-shaped back, pentagonal apses with side extensions.
Today it is recognized as a category 3 historical and cultural heritage site and is an architectural monument of the Russian retrospective style.
Despite the troubled times, the church has become a symbol of faith and hope for its parishioners. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul survived revolutions, wars and hostility to religion on the part of the Soviet government, retaining its original appearance. The church was not closed even in the Soviet years and is still operating. It contains an icon of St. Nicholas, which was stolen twice, but eventually returned to the temple anyway.
Local residents and pilgrims gather here daily to pray and communicate with God. The life of the temple is impossible without people, and its snow-white vaults raise feelings of unity with the sky. By visiting the Prozoroki, you will see for yourself.
Today, the temple is more than 100 years old and has a rich history. It's beautiful, both on the outside and inside.
If you are in the village of Prosoroki, be sure to visit these two main attractions: the church of Saints Peter and Paul and, located a few hundred meters from it, the church The Ascension of the Virgin Mary.
