Description

One of the most important sights of the city is the Tiesenhaus Palace, which was built from 1788 and throughout the 1st half of the XIX century. The architecture of the majestic palace very clearly shows the characteristic features of classicism: a six-columned portico, U-shaped layout and decorated facades. Unfortunately, to date, most of the interiors have not been preserved, and the interior layout has been completely redone.

Today there are medical facilities in the palace. There is a park around the palace, which was founded in the XVIII century and covers an area of about 10 hectares. The park is a mixed landscape composition with exotic plants in decorative groups, remnants of old lime alleys, canals.

Deliveries. The Tiesenhaus Palace.

The museum was founded in 1974 in the Tiesenhaus Palace, its collection of objects was collected by Nikolai Dmitrievich Lukichov, a history teacher at the city secondary school No. 1. The museum is housed in a building built by Count Anthony Tiesenhaus in the XVIII century, as part of the first ensemble architectural development of the Market Square in Belarus, the project of which was developed by the Italian architect Giuseppe de Saco.

The museum received its first visitors on February 26, 1976. At that time, it was headed by Viktor Konstantinovich Stakhovsky. Together with him, other directors, researchers and graphic designers, such as Evgeny Yanush, Ivan Kotovich and Joseph Atrahimovich, made a significant contribution to the development of the museum.

In the early 90s, under the leadership of Elizaveta Tikhonovna Valetko, who headed the museum for a quarter of a century, the museum expositions were reconstructed. The design of these expositions was carried out by the artist Viktor Gerasimovich Dedenko. Currently, the museum holds more than 16 thousand items. Nine years ago, the institution received the status of a legal entity and a license to operate with precious metals and weapons.

On June 14, 2014, as part of the International Festival "Cymbals and Accordion are Ringing", a new museum was opened in the district center. It was located in the basement of the Tiesengauz Palace and became one of the attractions of the city.

A significant place in the exhibition is devoted to famous people who glorified the Motherland at the end of the XIX century: A. Gurinovich, K. Svayak, A. Romer and others. The exhibition presents copies of objects and originals from this period, as well as banknotes of tsarist Russia. The events of the First World War and the October Socialist Revolution are reflected.

The museum building houses departments of nature, history, an ethnographic exposition of the interior of a peasant hut in the 30-40s of the XX century, an officer cavalry school on the Postavy estate and the First World War in the Homeland, an ornithological workshop and a study by Konstantin Tiesengauz. The expositions tell about the natural, historical and cultural features of the Motherland.

The exposition of the Hall of nature is made in the form of dioramas representing the natural world of the Homeland and its diversity. Here you can also get acquainted with the rules of behavior in the forest.

The history hall presents archaeological finds from the 3rd-2nd millennium BC to the 1st millennium AD: iron scrapers, knives, awls, stone and iron axes, fragments of pottery. Of particular interest are the mammoth bones found near the town of Lyntupa in the Postavsky district. Exhibits such as antique maps, engravings, tableware, books and items of the palace interior tell about the time when the community was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. A special place is given to the history of the family of the Counts of Tiesenhaus, who owned the Posts in the XVIII-XIX centuries.

The museum actively holds exhibitions using its own funds, as well as funds from other museums and private collections. The museum staff participates in regional and international conferences, studies historical and cultural heritage monuments and regularly replenishes funds.
