Poruchin. Church of the Intercession.
In the village of Poruchin between Baranovichi and Novogrudok in the Baranovichi district there is a wooden church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The temple was built on the outskirts of the town on a hill in the local cemetery. The monument was erected during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1783. The shrine was built by the foundation of the Catholic priest from Slonim, Yakov Kobylinsky.
The temple first belonged to Uniate believers, and during the time of the Russian Empire it was transferred to the Orthodox. According to information from 1879, the church was covered with shingles. The single-tiered iconostasis was painted in mother-of-pearl color and had nine icons. There were three bells in the bell tower.
The rector of the Intercession church was Safrony Gakhovich, who was ordained in 1844. There were two schools and a parish trusteeship at the temple. Then priests at different times were Joseph Kwiatkowski, Sergei Radakovsky and Peter Tomashevsky.
The parish included more than twenty nearby villages. A church of St. Nicholas with a miraculous icon of the Mother of God was attributed to the village of Yasenets.
The Church of the Intercession was built in the traditions of folk wooden architecture. It has three main architectural parts: a vestibule, a prayer hall and an apse.
A two-tiered bell tower is built over the vestibule. It looks like the bell tower was built during the time of the Russian Empire, or the Polish state.
