Description

On the way from Minsk to Molodechno, a little before reaching the town of Krasnoe, there is a village with an interesting name Pleban. In the center of the village stands the Orthodox Church of the Assumption. At first, the church belonged to Catholics, but in the 19th century it was transferred to Orthodox believers. In Soviet times, the shrine fell into disrepair. After the collapse of the USSR, the building was occupied by an Orthodox church. Restoration has been carried out. The church is active. A wooden building for the priest - pleban, has been preserved near the church, where the museum is now located.

Pleban. Holy Dormition Church

There are quite a lot of historical sites on the way from Minsk to Molodechno. One of these places is Pleban. There are already two legends about the origin of this town.

Once upon a time, a nobleman hunted in these places and got lost in the forest. And when he finally came to the Usha River, he decided to establish a church here. A similar story happened to the Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander Jagiellonchik. One day, when the prince was traveling to Molodechno with his retinue, he was surrounded by a large pack of wolves and, fleeing from danger, lost their way. When they escaped from predators, the prince ordered to build a wooden church in honor of their salvation.

And the first church, it is believed that it was built in 1500 by the foundation of Alexander Jagiellonchik. The church burned down in the middle of the 17th century during the war of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with the Kingdom of Moscow. The building has been restored. And in 1800, they began to build a stone church, which was completed in the middle of the 19th century. During the anti-Russian uprising of 1863-1864, there was a secret storage of rebel weapons in the cellars of the kkstel. After the uprising, the church was handed over to Orthodox believers. In the days of Poland at the beginning of the 20th century, the building again passed to the Catholics. During Soviet times, the church was closed and the building fell into disrepair. In the 1990s, the shrine was handed over to Orthodox believers and repairs were carried out. The church is active.

The building was built in the classical style with elements of Baroque and Neo-Gothic. A stone fence has been erected around it. Across the street there is a one-story wooden building -this is the former pleban, where the priest lived, and now there is a museum.
