Pinsk. St. Benedict's Church

The Church of St. Benedict in Pinsk, also known as the Benedictine Monastery, has a rich history that begins in the XVI century. This church was built in 1522 on the initiative of Benedictine monks who arrived in Pinsk from Poland.

In 1609, the church was significantly rebuilt and expanded, acquiring its current appearance. In 1772, after the first partition of Poland, the monastery was closed and its property was confiscated. In 1832, after the uprising in Poland, the monastery was finally closed, and the buildings were used as a military hospital and prison.

In the 1990s, the church was returned to the Catholic Church and its restoration began. Today, St. Benedict's Church is an important cultural and religious center of Pinsk, attracting tourists and believers from all over the world.

The architecture of the church reflects the influence of the Baroque with its magnificent decorative elements and exquisite details. The facade of the church is decorated with sculptures of saints and decorative bas-reliefs.
