Ozery. The Church of Christ the Almighty.

In the village of Ozery, Grodno region, a stone church of Christ the Almighty was built in the center of the village. The temple was built on a former Shopping mall next to the stone Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit on the site of an ancient wooden church.

The place was first mentioned in documents in the 14th century during the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The first Catholic church was built sometime in the 16th and 17th centuries. But the old church was destroyed during the war between the Tsarstvo of Moscow and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the middle of the 17th century. In 1679, a new wooden Catholic church was built on the Market Square, which was consecrated in honor of the Mother of God Ruzhentsova.

In 1745, the Catholic Church was referred to in documents as the new three-towered temple. There is an icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the main altar.

The church was renovated in 1779 at the expense of King Stanislaw August Poniatowski. A wooden synagogue was built in the 18th century. At the end of the 18th century, the town of Ozery was acquired by Count Mikhail Valitsky, who is known as a philanthropist and adventurer. At his expense, they are building a church, a paper and cloth factory.

During the time of the Russian Empire, the church building fell into disrepair, and believers in 1897 and 1904 appealed to the authorities to allow the construction of a new Catholic church. But there was no permission.

The old Church of the Mother of God Ruzhentsova was built in the traditions of wooden folk architecture. The church was two-towered with a triangular pediment. Several other Catholic chapels were assigned to the church.

During the time of the Polish state, the church was renovated in 1925.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Nazis burned the ancient shrine during their retreat.

After the war, the parishioners converted the stone hut into a chapel, which the authorities closed in 1962, and then it was demolished and a Cultural center was built on that site.

In 1992, a new church was built on the site of the old church, which was consecrated in 1997. The church was consecrated in honor of Christ the Almighty. A stone was embedded in the wall of the building, which was consecrated by Pope John Paul II. The new church has two towers and is very similar to the old building, although it is built with modern materials.
