A unique open-air museum complex.
The unique open-air museum complex contains ancient traditional buildings from various regions of our country. Even the landscape of the complex resembles a miniature Belarus: dense forests, wide meadows, high hills. The museum is divided into three exhibition zones: Central Belarus, Poozerie and Podneprovie. Each zone reflects the historical and ethnographic heritage of its region and presents typical fragments of settlements from the 18th - early 20th centuries.
The Central Belarus exhibition introduces us to the Minsk region and the western part of the Mogilev region. This is a two-way street with estates and outbuildings, such as a threshing floor, a barn, and a smithy. The most significant buildings of the exhibition are the Pokrovskaya Church of the 18th century, a tavern and a barn of the 19th century, a village school built in 1932. Not far from the village is the chapel of St. Nicholas of 1802 and a wooden mill of 1880.
The Poozerye exposition covers the Vitebsk region and the northern part of the Minsk region. There are many hills covered with forests, which alternate with marshy terrain. The region is represented by two types of settlements: a small village and a farmstead. Of greatest interest to tourists are the windmill with huge paired wings, the 18th century temple and the closed courtyard.
The exhibition "Podneprovye" shows us the architecture of the Mogilev region, part of the Gomel and Vitebsk regions. In this region, rural settlements are much larger than in Poozerye and have a clear layout. The main attraction of the exhibition is the Holy Transfiguration Church, built in 1704 in the village of Baran, Orsha district.
The museum presents the exhibitions "Forgotten Asilki Zamli Belarusian", "Dual-base carpets from the collection of the Museum of Agriculture". The museum staff offers many fascinating and educational excursions, for example, "Historical Voyage along the Volkovichi Reservoir" - a boat trip with a visit to the monument to Countess Hutten-Czapska. In the museum complex, ritual and traditional events are held for tourists: "Kolyada", "Belarusian Wedding", "Shchadrets", "Maslenitsa", "Gukanne Vyasny". On Valentine's Day, visitors can enjoy a lyrical and humorous program. International Museum Day is traditionally celebrated with performances by folk groups, folk craftsmen, and artists. Every year in September, the folk festival "Kamenitsa" is held here.
