Ostrovki. The Church of St. George the Victorious.

There is a place called Ostrovki in the Nesvizh district near the M1 highway. A 19th-century wooden Orthodox church of St. George has been built on the western outskirts of the village.

The first shrine on this site was erected in the 16th century during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Researchers believe that the sponsor of the temple was Metropolitan of Kiev John Protasevich-Ostrovsky. The village of Ostrovki was his ancestral estate.

The next church was built in the middle of the 17th century at the expense of Anna Dolskaya, who was the wife of the Volkovysk judge Adam Protasovich. The shrine belonged to Uniate believers.

In the 17th century, the church had the following church items: a silver cup, a large silver gilt cross with 4 precious stones and 13 other stones, a Gospel, a Psalter, 2 Bibles, a censer made of bronze, 2 candlesticks made of bronze, 2 candlesticks made of tin, 2 towels, 1 tablecloth, 2 cloth banners and 2 banners from the canvas, there is 1 large bell in the bell tower. There is an icon of the Mother of God on which there are 2 silver gilt crowns, a silver scepter, 4 tablets with precious stones and much more.

Already in the days of the Russian Empire, in 1837, the Uniate church was severely damaged during a fire. In its place, in 1844, a new Orthodox church was built, which was consecrated in honor of St. George. The Protasovichs also gave money for the new church.

The building was built in the traditions of Belarusian folk architecture. The temple consists of 2 log cabins of 2 parts: a prayer hall and an apse. The main volume is rectangular in plan and a pentagonal apse is attached to it. A dome on an octal drum is built over the church.

Near the temple there is a tombstone chapel of Protasovich and several other old graves. The church has been renovated in recent years.
