The Ostrovets Historical and Ethnographic Museum will allow you to learn more about the unique heritage of the region.
The Ostrovets Historical and Ethnographic Museum began its activity in March 2009.
On October 2, 2010, a significant event took place in the village of Barani – the opening of an exhibition called "Kazimir Svoyak's House". This exhibition is located in the house where the family of Konstantin Stapovich, also known as Kazimir Svoyak, a priest and poet, lived. The exhibition is based on objects directly related to the life and work of Konstantin Stapovich and his family.
For ten years, the museum operated with an exhibition in Barani, administrative offices and a storage facility in Ostrovets. During the museum's operation, more than 4,500 exhibits were collected and accounted for.
An important stage in the development of the museum was on March 5, 2021, when a multifunctional complex designed for social and cultural events and youth creativity was inaugurated. The ground floor of this complex houses the exhibition halls of the Ostrovets Historical and Ethnographic Museum.
In February 2023, a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of the Ostrovets Region was opened.
Today, the Museum of History and Ethnography includes three exhibition halls.
The first hall introduces visitors to the history of Ostrovets and its surroundings, dating back to 1468. The exhibition features a family tree, exquisite portraits and family coats of arms of the Gastholds and Radziwills. Here you can also see a model of the Statute of 1529, which was created by Albrecht Gasthold.
The second section of the exhibition is dedicated to the Korsakov family, also closely associated with Ostrovets, and the Abramovich family. Among other things, the Abramovichs owned Vornyany. The genealogical tables of these outstanding personalities, copies of awards belonging to representatives of the Korsak family, and family coats of arms were made by Belarusian craftsmen in a single artistic style.
The third hall of the museum is dedicated to the towns and manors of the Ostrovets region, offering visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the past and learn more about the unique heritage of the region.
Currently, the museum also regularly hosts rotating exhibitions, guided tours, lectures and educational classes.
